Uniswap Introduces “uni.eth” Subdomains with ENS Integration: Here are the Details!

  • Users can now register simpler names like “me.eth” instead of using complex wallet addresses like “0x74Fe1103d28fb79F4d83800003983390Dfc61234.”
  • Uniswap mobile app users can directly request uni.eth subdomains, and the platform offers subdomains for free.
  • Interestingly, owners of ENS domain names, including uni.eth, can create an unlimited number of subdomains as long as the ENS domain is active.

Decentralized exchange platform Uniswap has introduced uni.eth subdomains with Ethereum Name Service integration.

Uniswap to Offer uni.eth Subdomains

Uniswap (UNI)

Decentralized exchange platform Uniswap is enabling users to create human-readable domain names and cryptocurrency wallet addresses using the .eth extension through Ethereum Name Service (ENS) integration.

This step introduces ‘uni.eth’ subdomains, simplifying the process of converting complex hexadecimal Ethereum addresses into user-friendly names. This development allows users to establish their digital identities on the Ethereum blockchain. For individuals unfamiliar with “.eth” domain names, these provide a simplified alternative to long wallet addresses. Users can register simpler names like “me.eth” instead of using complex wallet addresses like “0x74Fe1103d28fb79F4d83800003983390Dfc61234.”

Uniswap mobile app users can directly request uni.eth subdomains, and the platform offers subdomains for free. The process of changing names is facilitated by a gasless mechanism through an off-chain resolver contract, ensuring a smooth experience.

ENS subdomains function as names created under an existing ENS main domain. Similar to subdomains on traditional websites, they allow users to manage multiple ENS identities. For example, the owner of the “bob.eth” ENS domain can create various subdomains like “pay.bob.eth,” “email.bob.eth,” or “games.bob.eth,” each directing to different web or Ethereum addresses.

Interestingly, owners of ENS domain names, including uni.eth, can create an unlimited number of subdomains as long as the ENS domain is active. These subdomains exist within the authorization scope of the main ENS domain, offering flexibility and customization.

More on Uniswap

Uniswap, as one of the most widely used automated market makers in the cryptocurrency space, facilitates trading between tokens through liquidity pools rather than traditional order books. The platform’s Version 3 has recently seen an increase in activity, recording a trading volume of over $1.2 billion in the last 24 hours.

To sustain its operations and development efforts, Uniswap Labs introduced a 0.15% fee for swaps conducted through the front-end interface in October 2023. Since the introduction of this fee, it has generated a total revenue of $5.9 million according to data.

Blockchain domain names are built on the Ethereum network and leverage non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to assist in assigning domains and querying addresses. This mechanism facilitates crypto payments and ensures the censorship-resistant nature of these websites. For instance, the only information needed to send crypto is the recipient’s blockchain domain.
