Madeira Launches Bitcoin Business Center
On the second day of Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023, during an interview between President Miguel Albuquerque of Madeira and Prince Filip of Serbia, it was announced that a Bitcoin business center has been established in the region to promote innovation.
Prince Filip said, “You showed me how the new Bitcoin business center would be last night,” and added:
“An association created to develop technology and Bitcoin, all the connections and partnerships you can have with technology and Bitcoin. It started with some really hardworking people in Madeira and is open to anyone who wants to collaborate.”
Prince Filip later expressed his delight at Madeira’s adoption of Bitcoin, describing it as a “technology of the future.” As the CSO of Jan31 and a staunch Bitcoin advocate, Filip has assisted in educating legislative bodies worldwide on the benefits of nation-state adoption of Bitcoin.
The President of Madeira stated, “We are transforming our economic base for technology companies, high technology, artificial intelligence, and of course, Bitcoin. Anything related to Bitcoin is welcome in Madeira.”
Madeira’s Adoption of Bitcoin
At the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami, it was announced that Madeira had adopted Bitcoin, and BTC investors in the region do not pay personal income tax. Last year, President Albuquerque stated, “I believe in the future and in Bitcoin,” and added:
“Individuals who trade Bitcoin in Madeira… do not pay taxes. They are not subject to personal income tax.”
Earlier this year, a Bitcoin delegation visited Madeira and discussed Bitcoin with President Albuquerque, witnessing the progress of its adoption across the region.
