Coinbase protocol leader Jesse Pollak said that users can discover these dapps and benefit from lower transaction fees and faster transaction speeds compared to Ethereum.
After the testnet introduction in February and the subsequent release for developers only in July, Base integrated with many crypto projects. These projects include DeFi protocols, wallets, bridges, oracles, and infrastructure providers.
Base, developed on Optimism’s OP Stack software stack, operates as a roll-up network. Base is a scaling solution that processes transactions outside the main Ethereum blockchain and provides a more cost-effective network for dapps.
Additionally, it is expected that this Layer 2 solution will become the default network for Coinbase’s on-chain products. Pollak told COINOTAG the following about the matter;
“We are excited to announce that the Base mainnet is now available for everyone. Initially, there are over 100 dapps and service providers in the Base ecosystem, and there are also deep integrations in the Coinbase product ecosystem.”
Onchain Summer Event
During the public mainnet launch of Base, it initiated the “onchain summer” event. This event, which lasts for several weeks, highlights the promotion of partner dapps on the Base mainnet in the fields of digital art, music, and gaming. In particular, users will have the option to create a unique “Base, First Day” NFT to celebrate the opening of the Base mainnet.
In the pre-launch period, both developers and users have transferred assets worth over $100 million to the network.
