Aave DAO Recalibrates Multi-Chain Strategy, Shuts Down zkSync, Metis, and Soneium Deployments and Enforces a $2 Million Annual Revenue Floor

The plan contemplates winding down instances on zkSync, Metis, and Soneium and setting a $2 million annual revenue floor for forthcoming deployments, signaling disciplined governance in liquidity-aggregating layers.

With deployments across at least 18 blockchains, Aave remains active on Ethereum Layer 2s and select Layer 1 networks such as Aptos and Sonic. The DAO’s Growth Service Platform (ACI) appears to be reining in expansion and enforcing tighter criteria for future networks.

Forum discussions indicate Growth SP has recommended retracting Aave instances on zkSync, Metis, and Soneium due to misalignment with market demand. These chains account for a small portion of total value locked, with Metis reporting roughly $3,000 in annualized revenue and Soneium about $50,000, versus Ethereum mainnet over $142 million and Base at roughly $4.7 million.
