On July 22, Aptos revealed the launch of a cross-chain WBTC solution by LayerZero, utilizing the OFT standard to facilitate seamless Bitcoin transfers onto the Aptos blockchain. This innovative WBTC iteration enables instantaneous cross-chain transactions without the need for additional wrapping or latency, significantly enhancing BTC liquidity within the Aptos ecosystem. By integrating this technology, Aptos strengthens its position as a hub for secure and native Bitcoin assets.
The introduction of xBTC alongside the WBTC-OFT integration establishes two robust and interoperable DeFi channels for Bitcoin holders on Aptos.
