According to a CoinDesk report, Bank of America is expanding its wealth-management guidance to allow advisers to outline crypto exposure. From January, clients could be allocated 1%–4% of assets to cryptocurrency, signaling a structured entry point for digital assets within mainstream portfolios while maintaining prudent risk controls.

Initial emphasis will center on four regulated, physical Bitcoin ETFs: BlackRock’s IBIT, Fidelity’s FBTC, Bitwise’s BITW, and Grayscale’s BTC. This approach provides institutional-grade access through trusted funds rather than direct custody, facilitating due diligence and aligning with existing tax and reporting practices.

This development reflects heightened institutional crypto adoption and could influence portfolio construction, risk assessment, and client communications across wealth management. As banks broaden crypto offerings, clear benchmarks and transparent performance data will be essential for sustained investor confidence.
