COINOTAG News, citing KBS, reports that the South Korean police asked Binance to freeze the stolen cryptocurrency traced to the Upbit hack. The exchange ultimately assisted in freezing only a portion of the assets, rather than the entire sum, reflecting cautious compliance amid ongoing investigations and data verification.

On the incident day (the 27th), authorities confirmed that some of the funds flowed to Binance. They requested a freeze of about 470 million KRW worth of Solana tokens. Binance, citing the need to verify the facts, froze about 17% of the amount (~80 million KRW), with a delay of roughly 15 hours before completion and notification.
