Bitcoin Stash of Qian Zhimin: 194,951 BTC Bought, 120,000 Still Unrecovered, and a 20,000 BTC Wallet Reported as “Lost Password”
A report published by China Newsweek via COINOTAG News revisits the Qian Zhimin case, noting that when he arrived in the UK in 2017 he carried about 70,000 Bitcoin worth roughly £3.05 billion.
In October 2018, Hampstead police searches uncovered £163,000 in cash and transfers involving more than 18,800 BTC, guiding investigators toward roughly 61,000 BTC traced.
A special audit shows Blue Sky Grid siphoned over 40.2 billion yuan (2014–2017), controlled by Qian Zhimin. From 2014–2017 refunds totaled 128,409 individuals; about 1.14 billion yuan was used to buy Bitcoin.
UK court documents indicate Qian Zhimin amassed 194,951 BTC, exceeding the 61,000 seized, implying substantial assets remain unaccounted or not yet confiscated.
Detective Joe Lane disclosed that Qian Zhimin claimed a wallet with 20,000 BTC, reportedly password-lost; at current rates that balance is about 12.5 billion yuan.
