Bitcoin Volatility Drops to 50% as Michael Saylor Says Strategy Seeks 1.5x S&P 500 Returns
COINOTAG News, citing Cointelegraph, reports that Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy, remains unfazed by Wall Street entering the Bitcoin market and any resulting price or volatility shifts. In a Tuesday interview, he noted that Bitcoin volatility has cooled since 2020, when annualized moves were near 80%; today they hover around 50%.
He projects ongoing compression, suggesting volatility could drop by roughly five percentage points every few years. As Bitcoin matures, its volatility might align at about 1.5 times the S&P 500, with expected performance roughly 1.5x the index over time, per Saylor.
Regarding risk, Saylor emphasized that Strategy is engineered to endure substantial drawdowns—about 80% to 90%—without disrupting operations, underscoring a disciplined risk-management approach to navigate cyclic crypto volatility while preserving operational continuity.
