Clearstream to Launch Bitcoin and Ethereum Custody Services for Institutional Clients

Clearstream, the clearing and settlement arm of Deutsche Börse, is set to enhance its offerings in the digital asset sector. Announced on March 11th, the institution will begin providing cryptocurrency settlement and custody services to institutional investors later this year. This significant development highlights the increasing acceptance of digital assets by major financial players in Europe. Starting next month, Clearstream will roll out Bitcoin and Ethereum services to its extensive client base of 2,500, utilizing its subsidiary Crypto Finance as a sub-custodian for these transactions.

In addition to initial offerings, Clearstream is also looking to broaden its scope by planning support for a wider range of cryptocurrencies. Future enhancements may include capabilities for staking, lending, and brokerage services. This strategic move positions Clearstream to capitalize on the growing demand for secure and regulated digital asset solutions within the institutional investment community.
