Ethereum: Fusaka Public Testnet Activates Oct 1 — 60M Gas Limit Default and Holesky Shadow Fork Ahead

At the 221st Ethereum All Core Developers’ Meeting (ACDE), Galaxy Research VP Christine Kim outlined the schedule for the upcoming Fusaka testnet upgrade, which is slated to publicly activate on October 1. Meeting notes indicate that four client teams have not yet released their builds for next week’s testnet upgrade, creating a defined timeline for client implementation and coordination across stakeholders.

Discussion also confirmed that, following completion of all testnet upgrades, the default block Gas limit in the Fusaka mainnet client will be set to 60 million Gas. Separately, the EthPandaOps team intends to deploy a Holesky shadow fork tomorrow, a procedural step to validate client behavior ahead of mainnet changes.
