Ethereum zkEVM Set to Launch on Mainnet, Boosting Gas Limit and Native zk-Rollup Support

Sophia Gold, a developer at the Ethereum Foundation, announced on July 11 that the L1 zkEVM is poised for deployment on the Ethereum mainnet. This upgrade is expected to substantially enhance the Gas limit, enabling native zk-rollup support while maintaining critical network attributes such as security, liveness, and censorship resistance. The zkEVM team has introduced a pioneering real-time proving standard, designed to facilitate local proof computations in both commercial and residential settings.

Gold emphasized that the accelerated development of multiple zkVMs could realize this objective ahead of the upcoming Devconnect Argentina conference scheduled for November. This advancement marks a significant milestone for the Ethereum execution layer, signaling a new era of scalability and efficiency for the blockchain ecosystem.
