GoPlus Monitoring: October Web3 Security Losses Surpass $45.84M, Phishing Attacks on GMGN and a 34 BNB Rug Pull

COINOTAG News, citing GoPlus monitoring, reports that October’s Web3 security losses topped $45.84 million as attackers exploited a spectrum of weaknesses, including smart contract vulnerabilities, phishing, and rug pulls, alongside social engineering and flash loans. The data highlight ongoing risk in decentralized ecosystems and the need for enhanced due diligence and control frameworks.

Among the notable incidents, GMGN users were targeted by a phishing attack posing as a third-party token portal, triggering unauthorized transactions and losses exceeding $700,000 across 107 users. In a separate incident, a Twitter handle rebranded to @OracleBNB, impersonating a partnership with @four_meme_ to launch a token, then culminated in a rug pull that generated 34 BNB in proceeds.
