On September 19, COINOTAG reported via Decrypt that Louisiana has integrated cryptocurrency payments into its government services, positioning itself as the newest state in the US to adopt digital currency. According to Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming, residents now have the option to pay for various state-related services using Bitcoin, the Bitcoin Lightning Network, and USDC. Notably, the first transaction utilizing cryptocurrency was recorded when the Wildlife and Fisheries Department processed a payment through the Bitcoin Lightning Network to settle a fine. Fleming underlined that while the state is open to accepting cryptocurrency, the received funds will be promptly converted into US dollars to mitigate any potential price volatility.
