MegaETH Quota Reaches $5B After Early Exploit by Crypto Whale; Bridging Opens in Beijing Time and USDm Is Distributed Early
MegaETH announced an expansion of its USDm quota to US$1 billion, according to official sources. The cross-chain bridge is slated to open at 00:00 Beijing time tomorrow, yet the available quota appears to have been claimed ahead of the official window.
Initial protocol envisaged a pre-signed transaction workflow, with a timed trigger to guarantee a punctual launch. However, management did not anticipate that signed messages could be broadcast by any participant. A suspected whale known as @chud_eth reportedly exploited this vulnerability to trigger the quota uplift and accelerate USDm distribution ahead of the intended window.
Concurrently, the aggregate ceiling was revised to US$5 billion, with more than US$4.83 billion already allocated. This adjustment signals swift liquidity deployment through the MegaETH bridge and underscores the need for robust on-chain controls to prevent premature access.
