Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings: 68 BTC Purchase Brings Total to 2,100 BTC

On February 20, COINOTAG News reported that Metaplanet, a publicly traded entity in Japan, has augmented its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring an additional 68 BTC, valuated at approximately $6.6 million. This recent acquisition increases Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin reserves to 2,100 BTC, equivalent to around $203 million. Notably, this positions Metaplanet as a holder of roughly 0.01% of the entire Bitcoin supply. Following this announcement, the company’s shares experienced a 2.78% uptick, closing at 6290 yen. Relative to its performance earlier in the year, Metaplanet’s stock has appreciated significantly, soaring by 80.75% year-to-date and an impressive 427.24% over the last six months. With ambitious plans to amass 10,000 BTC by 2025 and reach 21,000 BTC by 2026, the company is positioning itself as a formidable player in the cryptocurrency landscape.
