SEC’s Cryptocurrency Task Force Plans Four Crucial Roundtable Meetings on Crypto Trading, Custody, and DeFi

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced a series of significant roundtable meetings aimed at addressing critical issues in the cryptocurrency sector. Following the inaugural session, the Cryptocurrency Specialized Task Force revealed that it will convene four additional meetings during the first half of 2023. These discussions will explore essential topics, including crypto trading, custody, asset securitization, and the emerging realm of decentralized finance (DeFi).

Scheduled for April 11, April 25, May 12, and June 6, these sessions will cover themes such as “Between Blocks and Regulation,” focusing on crafting regulations for the trading of cryptocurrencies, and “Know Your Custodian,” which will address vital considerations for the custody of crypto assets. The task force’s leader, Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, emphasized the importance of these meetings in gathering expert insights and refining the SEC’s regulatory strategies. Notably, all discussions will be live-streamed, fostering transparency and public engagement.
