Onchain Lens recorded that Tether withdrew 8,888.8 BTC from Bitfinex roughly ten minutes prior, a movement valued at about $1 billion based on prevailing market prices. The transfer was captured on public ledgers and logged by blockchain analytics.

Since May 2023, Tether has publicly stated a treasury policy to allocate 15% of quarterly net profit toward purchasing Bitcoin, reflecting a deliberate corporate strategy to increment exposure to digital assets within its reserve framework.

Separately, in Q1 this year Tether executed a purchase of 8,888 BTC—approximately $735 million at the time—and moved those units from a Bitfinex hot wallet into a designated reserve address on March 31, as evidenced by on‑chain records.
