COINOTAG News on September 17 reported that Vitalik Buterin addressed a developer conference in Japan, outlining a pragmatic roadmap for Ethereum. In the near term he emphasized prioritizing scalability through calibrated increases to the L1 gas limit, aiming to boost on-chain throughput while preserving core decentralization properties.
For the medium term, Vitalik highlighted the protocol’s focus on L2 cross-chain interoperability, targeting reduced settlement latency and improved finality across Layer 2 execution environments. These interoperability efforts are positioned to enhance transaction confirmation speeds and optimise capital efficiency across rollups and sidechains.
The long-term objective is a resilient, low-complexity base layer: a secure, simple, quantum-resistant and formally verified iteration of Ethereum that strengthens protocol-level security and supports sustainable network economics.
