Danske Bank Launches BTC and ETH ETP Access
Danske Bank, Denmark's largest bank and a retail bank with more than five million customers in Northern Europe, has begun offering its customers, for the first time, BlackRock and WisdomTree's Bitcoin (BTC detailed analysis) and Ether (ETH) exchange-traded products (ETP) through its eBanking and mobile banking platforms. This service is available to self-directed investors who make their own investment decisions and was announced on Wednesday in response to the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and increasing customer demand.

Initially, three ETPs tracking two BTC and one ETH are offered; these products are subject to Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II) rules and provide easier trading and secure custody advantages compared to holding coins directly. Head of Investment Products Kerstin Lysholm stated that crypto demand is increasing, regulation is boosting confidence, and despite high risks, the time is right. The bank banned crypto trading in 2018, softened the policy in 2021; now it adds suitability tests and high-risk warnings. Similar trends in Europe: BBVA launched BTC and ETH trading in Spain, Deutsche Bank plans custody services in 2026.
Global BTC Institutional Demand is Rising
Recent news confirms institutional interest: Goldman Sachs holds $1.1 billion in BTC and $1 billion in ETH. On February 9, BTC ETFs saw $144.9 million, ETH ETFs $57 million in net inflows. Interactive Brokers has launched 24/7 Coinbase Nano BTC and ETH futures (BTC futures).
