As the interview progressed, the host questioned Buterin about the future of cryptocurrency in Turkey and how it would affect the world. In response to a question about Buterin’s positive approach to the centralization of staking (yield provision), he spoke about the future roadmap of Ethereum. Vitalik explained that the realization of the change this year was to realize the need for a positive approach to the centralization of staking.

He stated that mining pools and staking pools need to “redesign” for Ethereum staking to have healthy changes. He believes that alleviating problems will increase centralization. However, the challenge is that data accessibility is progressing slower in off-chain systems when demand is high for short- and medium-term needs.

When talking about the next Ethereum update, also known as EIP 4844 or Danksharding, Buterin said that the data map area would be improved to 16 megabytes per slot. He mentioned that once the update is completed, the only hard part will be adjusting the parameters and features. Buterin also argued that in the future, they could use a voting system that would eliminate the need for hard forks. The DenCun update is set to be released in early 2024.

Cardano Supporters Mock Buterin’s UTxO Explanation

As soon as Buterin mentioned UTxO, Cardano advocates mocked him on X. Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, sarcastically said that Ethereum 3 would solve everything. While Ethereum uses an account-based model, UTxO (Unspent Transaction Output)-based blockchain is used by Bitcoin and Cardano.

When Buterin praised the UTxO approach, the Cardano community couldn’t hold back and mocked why Cardano was doing the right things. In response to a comment, Hoskinson stated that Cardano would not receive praise for scientific achievements from Vitalik or the Ethereum team. He also said that Vitalik rediscovered things that Cardano had been working on for a decade and that it was never acknowledged.
