Polygon Announces Warner Music Partnership

Warner Music Group (WMG), the largest music company in the United States located in New York City, is launching a music accelerator program in collaboration with Polygon Labs aimed at the participation of future generation blockchain music projects and decentralized applications (dapps) on the Polygon network.

According to the press release, ideal applicants for the program are “companies and entrepreneurs operating at the intersection of music, technology, and Web3.”

The statement mentioned the following:

“They should focus on various areas such as developing artist-fan communities, establishing decentralized music production and distribution systems, innovating ticketing solutions, discovering music-related products and digital/physical collectibles, and integrating music with interactive technology and games.”

The selected projects will be financed by both WMG and Polygon Labs, and they will also have the opportunity to benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities provided by experts in the music and blockchain industries.

Ryan Wyatt, President of Polygon Labs:

“By supporting companies and entrepreneurs at the intersection of Web3 and music, we aim to encourage a new era of innovation for the music industry.”

Polygon’s Major Partnerships

Polygon has formed partnerships with major brands such as Starbucks, Reddit, and Nike in the past year to integrate Web3 technology. In April, it collaborated with Mastercard to launch a Web3 music accelerator program aimed at providing educational tools and mentorship to promising artists.

WMG has also continued its blockchain expansion in recent months. It collaborated with blockchain gaming company Splinterlands to develop play-to-earn (P2E) games for its roster of artists and launched a music-themed amusement park on The Sandbox metaverse platform. In October, the company posted a call for a senior director of metaverse development on LinkedIn.

In December, WMG and Polygon released a series of music NFTs on the LGND NFT marketplace.
