Metaplanet Raises $515 Million Through Share Issuance to Expand Bitcoin Holdings

Metaplanet, a Japanese publicly traded firm, has successfully raised 74.9 billion yen (around $515 million) by issuing 54 million shares through the exercise of its 20th series stock warrants. This capital influx represents a significant equity boost aimed at expanding the company’s Bitcoin holdings. The recent share issuance corresponds to 29% of the total warrants outstanding, with approximately 1.31 million warrants, equivalent to 131 million shares, still available for future exercise. Previously, Metaplanet outlined an ambitious plan to issue up to 555 million new shares—accounting for 92% of its current share base—to secure $5.4 billion in funding dedicated to cryptocurrency acquisitions. This strategic capital raise underscores Metaplanet’s commitment to increasing its exposure to digital assets within a regulated framework, reflecting growing institutional interest in Bitcoin as part of diversified investment portfolios.
