At the Wyoming Blockchain Seminar, Senator Cynthia Lummis announced a push to deliver a cryptocurrency market structure bill to the President’s desk by year-end, with an aspirational goal of completing action before Thanksgiving, establishing a clear legislative timetable.
Last month, Lummis, alongside Bill Hagerty, Bernie Moreno and Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott, released a broader discussion draft and set a self-imposed September 30 benchmark to advance committee consideration and stakeholder consultation.
Noting procedural complexity within the Senate, Lummis said the chamber plans to use the House’s Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (the “CLARITY Act”) as the base text while attempting to retain the House’s proposed stablecoin amendments and relevant provisions.
