US and EU Sanctions Complicate Russia–US Relations, Peskov Says Restoration Won’t Happen Overnight

In a media briefing dated October 26, Kremlin spokesman Peskov said that the latest sanctions from the United States and Europe have complicated the prospect of a Russia–US rapprochement. A clip of the interview circulated on social media by state television host Zharubin, highlighting the geopolitical backdrop facing policymakers and markets.

Peskov stressed that Russia will protect its own interests and pursue broad ties with all countries, including the United States. He described Washington’s recent measures as unfriendly and said they have damaged the prospects for a rapid revival of relations, but that does not mean Moscow will abandon dialogue.

He also noted that President Putin values President Trump’s sincere wish to resolve the Russia–Ukraine conflict, but acknowledged such a resolution cannot occur overnight. For crypto traders, these developments underscore the role of geopolitical risk as a factor in digital assets markets, influencing risk appetite and capital flows.
