On October 31, COINOTAG reported that the Bitcoin scalability project, Citrea, has successfully concluded a $14 million Series A financing round. This funding initiative was spearheaded by the Founders Fund, the venture capital firm founded by Peter Thiel, and received additional backing from prominent angel investors like Erik Voorhees and Balaji Srinivasan. Earlier in February, Citrea secured $2.7 million in seed funding in a financing round led by Galaxy, underscoring growing investor interest in Bitcoin-related technologies. The firm is strategically focusing on leveraging the BitVM computing paradigm to facilitate the implementation of Ethereum-style smart contracts on the Bitcoin network, potentially enhancing its utility and adoption within the decentralized finance sector.
