Ledger has tapped Yield.xyz as it begins to roll out perps trading within its wallet ecosystem, providing users access to Hyperliquid's onchain perps markets via a hardware wallet.

Yield.xyz is a non-custodial API that enables wallets and custodians to source yield from a range of onchain activities, like staking, restaking, liquid staking, DeFi lending, RWA yields, vaults, and more, according to its documentation. The project claims to support about 80% of the DeFi market, "covering more all major DeFi protocols," via its API.

Yield’s Ledger interface, in particular, will tap decentralized perps venue HyperLiquid as its underlying platform. HyperLiquid is the largest onchain derivatives provider, according to The Block’s data, with about $181 million in total volume last month.

"With the launch of Perpetual Trading in Ledger Wallet, we’re bringing hardware-grade security to one of crypto’s fastest-growing segments," said JF Rochet, executive vice president of consumer services at Ledger. "Ledger ensures that users who choose to trade in these markets can do so directly using their self-custodial wallets, without compromising control of their assets."

The feature will provide eligible users access to leveraged trading with their hardware wallets, enabling them to maintain control over their private keys. Ledger notes that most perps trading today "takes place in environments that expose users to significant security risks, including browser wallets, centralized exchanges, and workflows that require blind signing."

Ledger is rolling out the feature to about 20% of its user base in select regions, "with broader accessibility to follow." The feature will not be available in restricted jurisdictions, including the UK, the U.S., France, Belgium, and Ontario, Canada.

Yield.xyz already powers Ledger's earn and staking features. The firms are now extending this to perps via a widget for clear-signed, hardware-secured transactions. Earlier on Tuesday, Yield.xyz launched an integrated DeFi stack for AI agents in Privy, the software wallet overseen by Stripe.
