Mark Uyeda’s Vision for Trump’s Cryptocurrency War: A New Era for Bitcoin Regulation

In a recent interview with FOX Business, Republican SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda expressed his intention to align with President-elect Trump’s vision of battling the current administration’s stance on cryptocurrency regulation. Since his appointment in 2022, Uyeda has indicated he may step into the role of acting chairman following Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. He proposed that the SEC should halt fresh enforcement actions targeting unregistered crypto companies until a comprehensive regulatory framework is put in place. Uyeda emphasized, “The Commission’s approach to cryptocurrency enforcement should shift away from penalizing entities solely for lacking registration, especially when no fraud or harm is present.” This declaration signals a potential shift in the regulatory landscape, suggesting a more accommodating stance toward crypto innovation as American voters and the new administration call for clearer guidelines.
