Metaplanet Inc. Boosts Bitcoin Acquisition with ¥4.5 Billion Bond Issuance

On December 17, Metaplanet Inc., a publicly traded entity in Japan, made headlines by unveiling its fourth series of ordinary bonds worth 4.5 billion yen, equivalent to approximately 30 million U.S. dollars. This strategic move aims to facilitate an accelerated acquisition of Bitcoin, illustrating the company’s commitment to integrating digital assets into its financial portfolio. These bonds, characterized by a zero interest rate, are set to mature on June 16, 2025, signaling a clear strategy for capital growth without the burden of interest payments. Importantly, the redemption funds will stem from the proceeds garnered through the exercise of previously issued warrants. Additionally, Metaplanet plans to bolster its financial strategy even further by pursuing up to 5 billion yen through private placement bonds, enhancing its capacity for capital operations in the burgeoning cryptocurrency market.
