Bitcoin Holdings Dive: U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETF Cuts 4.76% While IBIT Dominates with $39.24 Billion

The recent developments regarding the U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETF underscore significant shifts within the cryptocurrency landscape. Data from Bitcoin.com, dated March 17th, indicates a 4.76% reduction in Bitcoin holdings since February 6, 2025. During the initial month of the year, these ETFs accrued approximately 56,802.86 BTC, yet a subsequent decline of 55,348 BTC over the last 35 days has raised questions among investors.

As of March 14th, the overall Bitcoin value maintained by the U.S. Bitcoin Spot ETF stands at an impressive $93.25 billion, constituting about 5.6% of the Bitcoin market cap. BlackRock leads the pack with its IBIT product, showcasing significant capital growth and holding 568,559.37 BTC following a net inflow of $39.24 billion. In contrast, Fidelity’s FBTC holds 194,269.83 BTC after attracting $11.25 billion in inflows.

Meanwhile, Grayscale’s GBTC remains a major player despite facing a net outflow of $22.5 billion, with current holdings of 193,870.05 BTC. Collectively, IBIT, FBTC, and GBTC command a substantial 85.26% of all spot ETF assets. Moreover, Osprey Funds recently filed an S-1 for its Osprey Bitcoin Trust (OBTC), currently pending SEC approval while managing an asset base of approximately 1,934 BTC, valued at $160 million.
