Morten Søberg to Lead Bitcoin Policy Institute Aiming to Advocate for Bitcoin Legislation and Awareness

In a significant development for the cryptocurrency landscape, Morten Søberg, a prominent figure in the financial sector and former State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, is set to take on the role of Secretary-General at the newly formed Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) by August 2025. This initiative is designed to challenge existing Bitcoin bans and promote legislative transparency related to cryptocurrency. The BPI’s mission is to elevate public understanding of Bitcoin and the broader monetary system. To date, the institute has successfully raised approximately 1,517 BTC (equating to around 16 million Norwegian Krone) through donations and boasts a membership base of 121 paid members. This financial backing underscores the growing support for Bitcoin advocacy in Norway, potentially setting a precedent for future regulatory discussions.
