AML Software Sues Athena Bitcoin Over Alleged Bitcoin ATM Source Code Theft

Bloomberg reports that AML Software Inc. has filed a federal complaint accusing Athena Bitcoin Inc. of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme to obtain proprietary source code used in Bitcoin ATMs. The filing in the Southern District of Florida alleges the conduct amounts to copyright infringement and unlawful misappropriation of trade secrets, positioning the matter as a formal intellectual property dispute in federal court.

Per the complaint, Athena purportedly entered into a series of transactions and agreements with entities it knew were transferring AML source code, some elements of which are designated confidential intellectual property known only to developers bound by nondisclosure agreements (NDAs). The complaint outlines commercial and legal claims that may affect compliance practices across the Bitcoin ATM sector.
