COINOTAG News, citing The Defiant on November 27, reports that SpaceComputer, a space computing startup, closed a seed round of $10 million led by Maven11 and Lattice, with participants including Superscrypt, Arbitrum Foundation, Nascent, Offchain Labs, Hashkey, and Chorus One. Notable backers include Marc Weinstein, Jason Yanowitz, and Ameen Soleimani.
Proceeds will fund an orbital network of satellites outfitted with SpaceTEE secure computing hardware to enable privacy-preserving blockchain processing and tamper-resistant record-keeping.
The founders say space unlocks new avenues for decentralized tech, envisioning a dedicated space compute layer with broader applications in the blockchain ecosystem.
In related moves, JPMorgan’s Digital Asset Unit previously tested tokenized value transfers via near-Earth orbit satellites.
SpaceComputer has tested on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and is collaborating with the Technical University of Munich and Cornell Tech to advance extraterrestrial blockchain computing.
