With the Shibarium network now operational and achieving its goals after a challenging launch process, what’s next for Shibarium?
What Will Happen in the Future of the Shibarium Network?
Following the second chance received from the community, the Shibarium protocol is now operational, and Kaal Dhairya, one of the core team members, shared a series of updates.
In the update shared on the project’s official blog page, Kaal announced that the hosted version of Blockscout is now available on Shibariumscan; this is a necessary adjustment to support the protocol’s performance for end users. According to the update, the Blockscout team is ensuring the explorer remains operational and the chain stays 100% indexed.
The Shibarium protocol continues to maintain its status as having the lowest transaction fee among all currently active L2s, and the team remains committed to maintaining this status quo. Kaal announced that Shibarium has surpassed a total of 1 million wallets deployed on the chain and hopes that the recorded overall transactions will soon reach the 1 million milestone.
Looking to the future, the Shibarium team is preparing to incorporate more bridges into the scaling network ecosystem, as Kaal confirmed ongoing discussions with bridge builders in the industry. Additionally, despite the rising performance in the ecosystem, the team is continuing with plans to cancel the BONE contract address.
As stated by the Shibarium developer, there will be more updates in the coming weeks regarding the cancellation to ensure everyone is well-prepared.
Shibarium: Endurance Test
For many ShibArmy members, the operations of Shibarium hold emotional value. Prior to the protocol’s initial launch, there was great anticipation and accumulated hype. The public’s high expectations were not met as the protocol experienced congestion on the first day of launch due to traffic.
Instead of giving up on the protocol’s development, the Shibarium team, led by Shytoshi Kusama, called for help from other protocols, including the Polygon team, to assist in scaling it to handle the burden and halted transactions on the chain.
The fact that Shibarium is now producing blocks without further strain indicates that a new goal is on the horizon to compete with existing L2s.
