WFE Urges SEC to Avoid Waivers for Tokenized Stocks, Demands Equal Rules for Crypto Platforms
As reported by Reuters, the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) has addressed a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), warning that granting regulatory waivers to crypto firms to issue tokenized stocks could undermine investor protection and threaten market integrity. The communication stresses that exemptions would bypass decades of established principles, risking uneven disclosure and misaligned risk controls across market participants.
To safeguard orderly markets, the WFE urges the SEC to refrain from waivers and to apply the same rules to tokenized offerings as traditional securities and crypto platforms, ensuring a level playing field, equal oversight, and transparent disclosure.
