Crypto Exchange Fee Calculator

A crypto exchange fees comparison means little in percentages alone — what matters is what those rates cost at your volume. Enter your monthly trading volume, pick spot or futures and how you place orders, and see the effective rate and yearly fee bill on 10 major exchanges, cheapest first.

Types of Crypto Exchange Fees

Maker fee

Charged when your limit order rests on the order book instead of filling at once — you add liquidity. Exchanges reward liquidity providers, so the maker rate is usually equal to or lower than the taker rate.

Taker fee

Charged when a market order, or a limit order that fills immediately, removes liquidity from the book. For anyone who enters and exits with market orders, this is the fee that dominates the bill.

Funding rate (perpetuals)

A periodic payment exchanged between longs and shorts on perpetual contracts. It is not paid to the exchange, but the longer a position stays open, the more it adds to — or takes from — your result.

Withdrawal and network fees

What you pay to move crypto off the exchange. It depends on the asset and the network you choose; withdrawing the same stablecoin over a different network can change the cost considerably.

How the Calculator Works

Effective rate = maker share × maker fee + taker share × taker fee. "Mostly market" assumes 20% maker / 80% taker, "Balanced" 50% / 50%, and "Mostly limit" 80% / 20%. Monthly cost = monthly volume × effective rate; the yearly cost is twelve times that.

Rates are each exchange's base (non-VIP) tier, verified on September 27, 2026 against the exchanges' fee pages and published entry rates. VIP tiers, native-token discounts and promotions can lower the real rate; funding, withdrawal and spread costs are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are crypto exchange fees calculated?

Fee = trade value × fee rate. Someone trading $100,000 a month at 0.10% pays $100 a month, or $1,200 a year. When part of your volume fills as maker and part as taker, the blended (effective) rate of the two applies — the calculator above does that from the order type you choose.

What is the difference between maker and taker fees?

A maker order adds liquidity to the order book (a limit order that does not fill immediately); a taker order removes it (a market order, or a limit order that fills at once). Most exchanges charge makers less, so working the same volume with limit orders lowers the yearly cost noticeably.

Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees?

At the base (non-VIP) tier with a balanced maker/taker mix, the lowest effective spot rate is MEXC (0.025%) and the lowest futures rate is MEXC (0.01%). The order can change with your order type and volume — use the calculator with your own numbers. Fees are only one criterion; for liquidity and track record, see our best crypto exchanges ranking.

What are Binance's trading fees?

At the base tier Binance charges 0.10% maker / 0.10% taker on spot, and 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker on USDT-margined futures. Paying fees in BNB discounts the spot rate, and VIP tiers lower both as 30-day volume grows.

What do futures cost besides the trading fee?

Funding payments while a position is open, a liquidation fee if a position is liquidated, and leverage itself: the fee is charged on the full leveraged position size, not on your margin.
