BIG: Syrian General Intelligence has arrested Ali Kayali, also known as Mihrac Ural, the main suspect in the May 2013 Baniyas and al-Bayda massacres, as he tried to flee across the border.
The Turkish-born leader of the pro-Assad militia Syrian Resistance is accused of overseeing the killings on the Syrian coast, where at least 458 civilians, including about 92 children, were executed.
Türkiye has long wanted him over the 2013 Reyhanlı bombings, which killed about 52 people.
The arrest follows the capture of his deputy, Jamal Traboulsi, earlier this month, as Syria's new authorities pursue former regime militia figures accused of war crimes.
