Worldcoin Pilots Facial Recognition for Enhanced Security on World App

On September 19, COINOTAG reported that Worldcoin is introducing facial recognition in its World App, as per an official blog. The feature offers a secure 1:1 facial comparison, ensuring exclusive access to the World App for users verified via their World ID on the orb. This innovation aims to bolster security for online purchases, financial transactions, and secure logins. Currently, nearly 15 million users globally engage with the World App digital wallet, with about 6.7 million users having confirmed their identity through Worldcoin’s iris scanning technology. Those who complete the eye scan verification process are awarded WLD tokens to establish their identity and acquire a world ID. The facial recognition feature is in the pilot phase.
