A prominent figure in the Dogecoin altcoin community, Mishaboar, is urging owners of BitBox hardware wallets to install a fresh firmware update without delay after the Bitcoin-focused device maker disclosed two severe vulnerabilities. In an Aug. 18 post on X, Mishaboar amplified BitBox's rollout of the Dixence security patch and stressed that the wallet never added Dogecoin support, although the device remains widely used among Bitcoin holders. BitBox's official advisory confirms that internal audits found multiple flaws in the device firmware. The most severe scenario, the company warned, involved an attacker manipulating a user into installing malicious firmware, unlocking the device and then draining the funds it protects. The vendor has instructed users to update both BitBoxApp and the firmware through the application's settings menu.
