TRON Nile Testnet Upgrades with Mandatory java-tron v4.8.1 Pre-Release, ARM Support and TIP-6780
Tron Foundation disclosed that the java-tron v4.8.1 pre-release is now live on the Nile testnet as a mandatory upgrade. Operators running Nile nodes are urged to apply the update promptly. The release consolidates core modules such as consensus, the virtual machine, networking, event services, and APIs to boost throughput, security posture, and cross-architecture interoperability within the Tron ecosystem.
The Nile testnet’s official notes indicate notable performance gains across architectural compatibility, VM security, network resilience, and query capabilities, along with toolchain upgrades. Notable items include ARM support, TIP-6780 updating SELFDESTRUCT, refined P2P messaging and event querying, expanded block receipts and SR vote interfaces, and broader toolchain upgrades to improve maintainability.
The GreatVoyage-v4.8.1 proposal on Nile requires an on-chain governance vote to become active on the testnet; mainnet activation hinges on upgrade progress and governance outcomes.
